About us
Twenty-One Semiconductors provides core components for watt-level yellow lasers. Located in Stuttgart, Germany, the company has developed the MEXL (Membrane External Cavity Laser) technology which combines the advantages of solid-state and diode lasers to enable simple access to the green-yellow spectral range. Based on the MEXL gain crystals, our customers build ultra-compact sources of visible laser radiation with high modulation capabilities for applications in the biomedical field.Address

Products & Services
Twenty-One Semiconductors offers a broad range of MEXL gain crystals for laser emission in the green-yellow spectral range. The optically pumped crystals are based on µm-thin semiconductor membranes sandwiched between optically transparent heat spreaders. By altering the material composition of the membrane, the laser emission wavelength is adjusted during the fabrication process. The MEXL gain crystal is used in an external resonator with intra-cavity SHG to achieve high-power visible laser emission with a perfect beam profile. Our currently available crystals cover the range from 450nm to 600nm, further wavelengths are to come.
MEXL Gain Crystal
The MEXL gain crystal comes with multifunctional dielectric coatings in a 2mm diameter aperture. One of these coatings serves as cavity end mirror and simultaneously enables direct pumping in a linear geometry at any wavelength between 800nm and 830nm. The surfaces outside the coated apertures are gold-plated for optimized thermal connection via soldering.
