About us

SPACEOPTIX GmbH is a Fraunhofer IOF spin-off and engineers, manufactures, integrates, and tests high-performance metal optical components and systems for applications in space, astronomy, industry, and science. Based on more than 20 years of applied research, SPACEOPTIX offers optical metal mirror components and systems from micro-scale to meter-class. Wether within a dedicated process step or as a complex system solution – we support our customers from design to final system integration and testing. SPACEOPTIX offers both engineering and build-to-print manufacturing of metal mirrors and optical systems from small volumes to series production.

Products & Services

SPACEOPTIX offers engineering and manufacturing of metal based optical mirrors and mirror systems from prototyping to volume production. Realization of our optical components is based on a space-proven process chain including mechanical machining, ultra-precision machining, polishing, figure correction, and optical high-reflection coatings. The characteristics of our machinable metal mirrors span a wide range on surface form (flat, sphere, asphere, freeform), mirror base materials (Al, Cu, AlSi) functional coatings (electroless or galvanic nickel-phosphor) and high-reflection coatings (Au, Ag, Al, dielectric).

With the TLX80, SPACEOPTIX is featuring at this year’s SPIE Photonics West an all-aluminum mirror telescope for beam expansion or reduction for applications in optical communication and industry. The 80 mm aperture off-axis mirror system is designed for volume production at low recurring costs while achieving still diffraction-limited performance down to the visible range.

TLX80

TLX80 is a 80 mm aperture off-axis reflective mirror telescope designed for beam expansion or reduction within optical communication and industry purposes. It is the first release from SPACEOPTIX TLX telescope series designed for volume production at low recurring prices.

Metal mirrors

SPACEOPTIX realizes metallic mirrors for applications in the infrared, visible, and ultraviolet spectral range. Mirror sizes may vary from microstructured optics up to 500 mm in diameter. Different material combinations and high-reflection coatings are available upon request.

Freeform optics

SPACEOPTIX realizes freeform mirrors in metallic materials for various applications in illumination and imaging. Mirrors are available upon request in form deviations < 100 nm PV and surface roughness down to < 0.3 nm RMS.
