Located in Aachen we offer special and immediately practical solutions for a connected, adaptive production in the fields of process technology, production machines, production quality and metrology, as well as technology management.
The Fraunhofer IPT has a strong focus on optical technologies and over 25 years of experience in optical manufacturing and assembly technologies. Therefore, we focus all of our expertise on the production and evaluation of complex optical components and systems. At Fraunhofer IPT we cover the full depth of the development and manufacturing of optical systems throughout the entire supply chain – starting with the design of optical systems, continuing with optics manufacturing through glass molding and polymer injection molding, reaching over precision assembly technologies for optical system and culminating in final qualification.
At Photonics West 2020 Fraunhofer IPT will show its active alignment technology for optical components and a glass molding monitoring software for the replicative production of high precision optics. The enabling technologies for the ultra-precision assembly processes are the micromanipulator C6 – Commander 6 and the ultra-precision UV-curing adhesive bonding technology.
Often, the C6 is customized by integrating curing equipment and sensing technology to get an integrated alignment and assembly tool. The glass molding monitoring software is our latest development for cyber-physical systems in optics production. It provides machine data and numerical simulation on various devices to make optics production smarter. Fraunhofer IPT provides efficient solutions for the entire production process chain of components made of optical glasses and infrared transmissive glasses as well as polymers such as aspheres, freeforms, MLAs, wafer-level components and optical films.
A wide range of replication processes for nano, micro and macro structures is available, covering master production by structuring, step and repeat embossing and electro forming through to injection moulding.
