Active Fiber Systems GmbH is located in Jena, known as ‘city of photonics’ in Germany. The mission of Active Fiber Systems GmbH (AFS) is to transfer groundbreaking experimental results to reliable laser systems suitable for scientific and industrial applications. Among the remarkable features of AFS's pulsed fiber lasers are their compact dimensions, considerably reduced production costs as well as flexible and outstanding laser parameters, which can be customized.

This turnkey and fully software-controlled high-power fiber-laser system offers the optimum price-to-performance ratio and finds applications both in science and industry. High-harmonic generation of ultrashort-pulse lasers has gained significant attention in the last years due to its enormous potential to adress a plethora of applications in a cost effective and table-top format. AFS ultrafast fiber-laser driven XUV beam lines offer record-high photon flux combined with turn-key operation and excellent stability.

AFS’s customized kW average power and multi-mJ pulse energy ultrafast laser systems are based on AFS leading-edge fiber technology. They unite multiple main-amplifier channels using coherent combination, a technology which AFS has matured to an industrial grade. Available options are SHG, THG, Nonlinear pulse compression (<40fs, <10fs), HHG and GHz-Burst.

News & Innovations

AFS contracted construction of the world's strongest fiber laser for the ELI-ALPS facility in Szeged, Hungary.  The HR2 laser system will be constructed by Active Fiber Systems in 2018 and delivered to ELI-ALPS in 2019. This system combines outstanding laser parameters that are orders of magnitude beyond the state of the art. The final system will emit CEP-stable 6fs-pulses at 100kHz, an average power of 0.5kW and a peak power of 1TW.
