About us

The Photonik Incubator in Göttingen is focused on innovative ideas in the field of optics. Ideas from communications engineering and information technologies, analytics and sensor technology, microscopy, surface refinement and medical engineering can proceed from laboratory to industrial application – with time, money and mile stones in mind.

Granted by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony (MWK) laboratories and offices at the Photonic Incubator await their future entrepreneurial inhabitants, who are willing to do their research with a strong focus on commercialization and bringing their products to marketability. After receiving their grants for the incubation process, it is planned to add a follow-up financing for the successful founding of a start-up company.

Products and services

Superlight Photonics team is made up of the professionals of one of the world’s leading institutes for GaN-technology (IHT TUBS). The outstanding unique feature of the Institute is the GaN production by semiconductor epitaxy, chip processing and system integration.

Production and distribution of miniaturized LED-matrix arrays:

  • Key technology: micro- and nanoLED GaN arrays
  • NanoLED arrays with dimensions below 1μm 
  • Fusion of novel fabrication technologies and system development methods for creation of the product for sensing, analytics and photonics

The Superlight Photonics device can be applied in different research and development areas :

  • High-spatial/temporal-resolution structured illumination in microfluidics 
  • LED-platform for high-selective gas sensing 
  • High-resolution LED displays as an add-on to optical microscopes 
  • Point-of-Care diagnostics 
  • Structured illumination in optogenetics 
  • In-vivo diagnostics 
  • Lab-on-Chip systems
